Why Do You Need To Register As A Voter?

Q : What do you think of our national policies? What strategy should be used to eradicate poverty?
A : These are some of the issues which are discussed and decided by our elected representatives. They decide on policies and laws which may affect our daily lives. They represent our voices and needs in Parliament/State Assemblies. This is because we elect them to represent us in deciding what is best for us.

Q : Am I eligible to register?
A : Yes, if you are a Malaysian citizen; 21 years of age; residing in an election constituency; and have not been disqualified by law.

Q : Where can I register?
A : Election Commission Malaysia (ECM) offices; ECM's mobile units; and Post offices.

Q : How do I register?
A : Come personally to any of the above premises; bring along your IC; make sure that your details are correct and complete during filling the registration form; keep a copy of your application as proof of your registration.

Q : When can I register?
A : During office hour throughout the year.

Q : What should I do after registration?
A : Check your name and registration status at ECM website (http://www.spr.gov.my) or by phoning any ECM office.

Q : When can I vote?
A : Once the Electoral Roll is certified and there is an election on your constituency.
